Hello everyone! This is Cassandra from
CREATING with COLOR by CASSANDRA. You may remember a couple of weeks ago when Peachy Keen Stamps teamed up with SVG Cutting Files for a super fun Blog Hop. Well, one of the DT members for SVG Cutting Files ~
Jamie had this really cute Tissue Holder as a free cutting file on her blog - so I decided to give it a try with my Cameo.
What do you think? I just love how it turned out! The cutie patootie little skunk and both sentiments are from the
PKS ~ Skunk Cheer Up Set.
I used Copic ~ Sketch Markers to color in my little skunk. And I added a little bow with The Twinery ~ Blossom Twine.
All the patterned papers are from the Best of My Mind's Eye ~ Volume I. And all of the cute little flowers are from my stash.
Here is a fun side view so you can see the little pack of tissue. The little white fence is cut with a Martha Stewart ~ Border Punch.
***Technique Time ~ I thought I would show you something fun today. For those of you who may be newer to stamping, you might want to sit down for this one...it could be a little shocking. ;) I know it was for me the first time I tried it.
You can see that both of the sentiments I used are in a horizontal rectangle shape. For the sentiment on the bottom, that was perfect, but I wanted to do something a little different for the one toward the top. Here is the solution . . . wait for it . . . wait for it . . . I CUT MY STAMP!!! Eeeeeek!! I know! I know! The thought of cutting my stamps totally freaked me out the first time too. But now that I have tried it, I love it! Here is a picture of my cut stamp:
All you have to do is use a really good pair of scissors and just BE CAREFUL! Once I cut this horizontal rectangular stamp in half, I could stamp it more like a square. And don't worry...the next time you want to use it, if you would like it to be in it's original shape, then you can just put it back together like puzzles pieces on your stamping block. Super easy! Check it out again:
If you are looking really closely, some of you might notice that it still looks a little different. Well, to get the look I wanted, after stamping the top half, then I inked up "happen in life" and taped off the "...JUST STINK!". Then I taped off "happen in life" and then inked up "...JUST STINK!" so that I could stamp it exactly the way I wanted. And voila! A customized look for any project! What do you think? You can do it!!! It's so much fun ~ after you get over the shock of it. ;)
Thanks for stopping by today. And for more details, hop on over to
my blog. Have a GREAT day everyone!!
